Broadband Links the Shores

Six years ago, after the 36th District Delegation first swore in, I remember sitting down with Senator Pipkin and talking about the priorities we had for the district. Broadband access had been discussed as a need for at least five or six years before that, but that was as far as things had gone.

The Delegation then began to work on putting things in place to make Eastern Shore Broadband a reality. The State and Federal Government worked closely with the private sector and thus, the project moved so quickly, we are currently far ahead of schedule.

On Tuesday, October 9, 2007, the stakeholders came together to celebrate the connection of the western shore with the eastern shore of Maryland, as the laying of broadband cable across the Bay Bridge was completed.
