Elkton's Marriage Capital History is Recognized - 2007
The Maryland Historical Society provided a historical marker recognizing the long history of Elkton as the wedding capital of the East.

The marker was placed in front of Elkton’s only remaining Chapel where owners Frank and Bobbie-Ann Smith currently operate the Chapel which has been in business for the last 80 years. To see the photos of the placement of the new historical marker. See Photos

Lt. Gov. Michael Steele visited Cecil County - Thursday, September 14, 2006.
The Lt. Governor stopped into see the students at Bohemia Manor High School who are part of the freshman academy, particularly those in the honors government class. The students were respectful and well informed regarding our State and National Government. The Lt. Governor was given about a half hour with the kids to exchange some thoughts on the role of government in our lives. From Bohemia Manor it was a short jaunt down route 213 to Chesapeake City where the Lt. Gov. got off the bus for a walk along the tourist route to the harbor. Along the way the Lt,. Governor stopped to talk with various shop keepers and local politicians regarding tourism and the economic vitality of Chesapeake City.
