As anyone familiar with Delegate Smigiel is aware, he is a former U.S Marine who is a hunter, shooter, weapons
collector and a life member of the NRA. Mike is one of our strongest leaders on the issue of Second Amendment Rights.
Mike sits as a member of the Judiciary Committee where Second Amendment issues are heard. Mike hs been successful in getting some of the anti Second Amendment legislation dismantled by removing the funding for the Ballistic Finger printing and the personnel for the program.
Mike has also been a leader in defeating in the Committee all anti Second Amendment legislation. Each
year the assault weapons ban legislation proposals by the ultra left; "progressive" legislators has been stopped
due to the efforts of Delegate Smigiel and other pro Second Amendment legislators.
Delegate Smigiel pledged to unequivocally protect our rights to be able
to protect ourselves through the ownership, use and possession
of legally owned firearms.
Those who abuse the rights of others through illegally misuses
of firearms or those who have a felony criminal history or those with a history, of mental illness should have reasonable firearms restrictions placed upon them. Law abiding citizens should not be restricted from owning, possessing, carrying or using legal fire firearms. Delegate
Smigiel will continue to protect this as well as all other constitutional
rights guaranteed the citizens of the 36th District.
